What is the Starphone?
The Starphone is a Voice Over IP (VOIP) interactive communication and conferencing system with many special features (click here to read about features) and benefits (click here to read about benefits). With the LOTN Starphone you may listen to thousands of sports and entertainment events, create voice chat conferences where large or small numbers of individuals can join together, dial direct person to person free from long distance charges and easily search and find people and events of interest.
How do I listen to live sports events?
Simply click on the sports tab, follow the easy pop-down menus to select your team and sport and Click to Listen.
How do I find events or people with the Starphone?
By choosing the galaxy of your choice, you may use an easy pop-down menu system to locate events of your preference. The Starphone organizes content into galaxies. There are currently galaxies that include sports, gaming, business, personal, political and miscellaneous. You may also create your own galaxies. To find a person…..
Can I use this like a phone?
In order to call an individual, that individual must also have downloaded a Starphone. You may reach that person by clicking on their name or creating a conference call and sending an invitation to join that conference call.
How does the favorites system work?
You may easily add people or events to your favorites list. From your favorites list, you may call direct or join an event already in progress.
How do I create a conference call?
Conference calls are easy to create. Click the Party tab and follow the easy directions.
Can I personalize my Starphone?
You have many options to personalize your Starphone. By selecting the areas most interesting to you, you are able to easily find to people or events. From the My Account menu, you may choose additional Screen Names. You may also choose your default galaxy for your homepage view as well as your galaxies of interest.
How do I listen to an event while I’m talking to someone?
In order to participate in multiple calls, you must open multiple Starphones.
Technical
I downloaded the Starphone, but I’m not able to open it?
In order to run LiveOntheNet’s Starphone, you must have a current version of Java.
How do I get a current version of Java?
LOTN has provided a convenient link to www.java.com to upgrade in several quick steps.
1) Please click on the "Download Now" button of the Java Software Free Download.
2) Please click the "Begin Download" button.
3) When prompted to Install and Run J2Se Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6, click "Yes".
4) Click to accept License Agreement.
5) Click "Next" to install.
6) Click "Finish" to complete Upgrade.
I clicked on the Upgrade Java link but I’m not able to download the upgrade?
Occasionally previous software installations (including Java) may conflict with your upgrade. Please reboot your computer and try again. If you are still unable to complete your Java upgrade or open your Starphone please contact us at 1-800-840-8638 or by email a support@liveonthenet.com. Keeping a record of any error messages is very helpful identifying problems.
